The Thought of Them

Last night after taraweeh, i was craving for a chocolate. so i took the keys, walked out the porch, and closed the door behind me. Just then, the thought of them came to my mind. THEM. i closed my eyes for a second, and then opened the door. I walked back into the house and put the keys back on the keyholder.

Help @ PNEC

we raised almost 15000 rupees from just the civilian students in 5 hours today..im really really happy about that. i didnt really start off with a lot of money in the morning, but by the time we were going home, i got in huge chunks from here and there. the navy guys contributed separately (which i dont know how much) and the faculty did it on their own account too. i'll see if i can get the estimate tomorrow..but i assume it should surpass 25000 atleast. then there are people giving their blankets and clothes etc. too. what we need is consitency here. i'l write about that later on. in the mean time , do check out madihas blog. shes written her views on the earhquake from an islamic p.o.v (as you'd expect her to :P). the link is on the side bar..

Stranded in Emotions

im stuck man...in between an overflooding rush of emotions, inspiration and the pure passion to help my countrymen.....and between the distressing thought that im not being able to help as much as i want to. the telly and the papers are driving me nuts. sigh. God please help us all. amen.

The Earthquake

i really cant think of what to say about the tragedy.perhaps so many emotions might flood out, that i may not be able to say anything at all. so, just a silent prayer. for them. for us. for everyone.
ive given a link on the right column where you can donate money for the relief fund. please people, dont hold back.

Bush Says.....

Headline from Yahoo News today:

"Bush says more sacrifice needed in war on terror "

Hahahaha...what an ass....

Chaand Nazar Aagayaaaaaaa!!!!

well first of all, happy ramadan to all those who are reading this post. its been some time now since i last wrote up something here, but now i finally seem to have found the time..until another couple of days atleast. we went to a picnic last sunday, organized (and ruined) by the college administration. i wont get into more details, or else i'l end up giving up this blog too. i must say that whatever time we enjoyed there (and that was very little of it), it was quite facinating. i have to admit with utmost shame that the place was one of the very few clean beaches around karachi, and atleast the cleanest i had been to. ofcourse being located within the limits of a naval base, one would expect it to be free from the littering crowd that inhabits this great country (ironically named PAK-istan).
anyways on to the Holy month of ramadan, and we all have to fast from tomorrow (awwwwww!)..hehe just kidding. i dont know why i have this really bad habit of cracking silly jokes about religion. someday, i fear i'll be struck by lightning for the things i say, but i hope God knows im just joking around. and the onset of ramadan will bring to life my favourite race of people- pakistanis! some things i notice every year about us all, which are quite typical of pakistanis:
  • Right after the Maghrib prayer on chaand raat, the whole population of the namazis of a mosque will flock in the very small area outside the mosque in hopes of sighting the new moon. question: isnt there ANY other place left to stand and look for the moon? why do they ALL have to stand there and block the whole gate. Besides, no one can see anything in the sky anyways.
  • People will ALWAYS criticize the decision of the ulema when it comes to the new islamic month, and most certainly when its about the beginning of ramadan. cartoons will be made showing the crescent sighting committee with dark glasses and walking sticks, editorials will be filled about yet another wrong decision, and a handful of TV talk shows (which i think are the scum of the earth shown on televison) will be aired showing a couple of bloody chaps who will somehow try to convince the audience that the witnesses and the entire committe was forced to yield to the order of the government. i dont see how a day ahead or a day before in the month can really cause so much profit to the government as to risk a possible upheaval of this magnitude. solution: just shut up and fast, man. the reason why the ulema are there is coz you dont have to worry about it. its not your problem, so just do what youre supposed to do.
  • Pathans of NWFP seem to have a problem with keeping unity with the entire nation when it comes to starting ramadan. if they could, they would probably start ramadan a day before they do it in saudi. i really cant understand their logic or reason for this....(er..excuse me....WHAT logic? WHAT reasoning?)

for the moment, i guess thats all from my side..ofcourse as the month progresses, i will be jotting down more things about people, and i will ensure that my favourite pastime of criticizing others in a satirical manner continues. Its funny and dissapointing how thats the exact thing that i hate about others when applied to me.
